Bataleon Goliath Snowboard Review
Share
The Bataleon Goliath is my go to board for everyday riding where I want to try a bit of everything and has been for a few years, so I have to declare a vested interest. that being said I'll try to be pragmatic when comparing it to other boards.

Design and Construction: The Bataleon Goliath features a directional twin shape, which means the board is more or less symmetrical in both the nose and tail. To look at the board is exactly the same from nose to tail but as I understand it the Goliath is a touch shorter in the tail. You'd never know, the board rides switch perfectly. The board has Bataleon's signature Triple Base Technology (3BT™) with a medium camber profile. The 3BT™ features a slight uplift in the nose and tail, improving floatation in powder and reducing the chances of catching edges on groomed runs. I say reduces, as that sounds like the responsible thing to say.. but in reality.. I have never caught an edge on this board unless I was being particularly stupid on that given day.
The Goliath's core consists of poplar and beech wood, providing a balanced combination of flex, durability, and pop. Bataleon adds carbon stringers in the core to enhance responsiveness and control, making the Goliath a board that performs well in various conditions and terrain.

Performance and Riding Experience: The Bataleon Goliath truly shines as an all-mountain board, offering a smooth and stable ride across different snow conditions. Its medium flex strikes a good balance between stability at high speeds and playful maneuverability.
The 3BT™ technology can be a double edged sword until you learn to use it properly, although it makes turn initiation effortless, .. at times the board can start to slip away from you if you are not fully committed. a consequence of the 3BT™tech, having the upturned edges along the sides of the board, you really need to dig your toes or heels in to make a turn stick. but it does give you a catch-free feel for when you're messing about and not paying attention... so its swings and roundabouts.
The Goliath's camber profile and carbon stringers contribute to its excellent edge-to-edge response, allowing riders to carve confidently on groomers and maintain control on steeper terrain. This board excels in both powder and groomed runs, providing excellent floatation in deep snow and maintaining stability on hard-packed snow.

Freestyle Performance: While primarily marketed as an all-mountain board, the Goliath performs admirably in the freestyle realm. Its directional twin shape and balanced flex allow for confident switch riding and offer a comfortable platform for executing tricks in the park. The combination of 3BT™ and camber provides solid ollies and good pop for jumps and side hits.
Suitability for Riders: The Bataleon Goliath is best suited for intermediate to advanced riders who want a versatile all-mountain board with a playful touch. It offers a forgiving ride that can accommodate newer riders who want to progress their skills while providing enough performance and response to satisfy experienced snowboarders.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the Bataleon Goliath is a top-notch all-mountain snowboard that excels in various terrains and conditions. Its innovative 3BT™ technology, combined with a medium flex and camber profile, creates a versatile and enjoyable ride for intermediate and advanced riders alike. Whether you're carving groomers, exploring off-piste terrain, or hitting the park, the Bataleon Goliath is like slipping into a comfy pair of slippers, at least for me.. this board can do no wrong.
